Starting your linocut journey can be an exciting and creative endeavor. Whether you took my class or are just discovering this page, below is some more information to help you get started. Each item is essential for creating your first linocuts with ease and confidence.
This list is also great for beginners because although linocut is very fun and addictive, it can be expensive starting out. The list I have provided are affordable and minimal supplies that are needed to be able to create freely without breaking the bank.
Drawing
Paper or trace (to reference existing designs)
6b graphite pencil or softer (ie. 7b, 8b or higher)
Carving
Carving tool: Speedball Lino Cutter Handle
#I (small v gouge)
#2 (large v gouge)
#5 (large u gouge)
Carving Block: Green Easycut Lino
Printing
Wooden spoon or folding tool
Roller: 3" soft Speedball brayer
Water based Ink: Speedball Water-Soluble Block Printing Ink set of 6 (water-based a good start)
Printing bed: cardboard and making tape
Spatula for mixing colours
Inking plate: 8x10 acrylic sheet, glass sheet (old picture frame)
Card stock, copy paper
